Tonight was the first day of an am and pm dose. For the first week, I was to take it once a day, then twice a day for 3 months. Yesterday I had a large bump on my cheek and I thought maybe it was either :
a) During PMDD times, my body gets these big, bug bite/hive like bumps to certain very small blackheads. They are not infected, no pus or anything and the lump is large and hard like a big spider bite and appears very suddenly, like a hive. b) Viral bump-shingles-like. I get those a lot but they are usually smaller, like chicken pox c) A hive. I get those in the evening once in a while, I think from my Adderall, but they are minor and I haven't had one in a long time.
I now know it was a big hive because I got one on my chin last night and there was no doubt; it had that perfect flat circular raised shape, about the size of a nickel and it hurt. So tonight I took the Nystatin and and waited to see what would happen. Suddenly the tops of my feet are really swollen and my left foot suddenly has a large, fluid filled area about 2" long and 1.5" wide. So I went online to see what patients are saying about Nystatin, because none of the medical websites have thorough information on reactions (shocker). And the sheet I got with it didn't list any of the symptoms I am having. Not surprisingly, several people have gotten hives from this. I am not having a major reaction, but it will probably worsen.
After reading the positive relief from symptoms some people have had after taking the Nystatin, however, I am hopeful that many of my symptoms are from a Candida overgrowth. One woman suffered for 15 years with joint pain, etc. and after taking Nystatin, it’s gone.
