His girlfriend saw the whole thing and said he landed on his back and hit the back of his head~ a bad spot to hit. He swore that he had landed on his stomach, and said he 'came to' laying on his back slowing sliding down the hill. When he first opened his eyes, everything was green and purple and he has no recollection of the actual hit. I knew he felt really, really bad afterward and was very tired, grouchy and had a horrible headache and mood swings in the week following. Now I know he was unconscious for a split second and has no recollection of the blow.
Last week he had one headache that I know of, and his mood and energy have greatly improved. The past few days he has felt pretty amazing, I can tell. He is at the end stages of finally getting his Chevelle put together and his brain has been going a mile a minute. He has so many things he is thinking about a once, he can hardly focus on which one to act on. But he has acted on all of them and with our help, organizing and planning out what order to do things and steps to take. He wants to do everything at once. A problem he has never had to deal with before~ I'll take it! Every day he has been out there for hours working diligently on his car.
He volunteered tonight that his reading comprehension is much better, he can focus in school and is more interactive during class. He feels like he is engaged and is capable of thinking and responding. His brain is working!
This is such a 180 from how his brain was functioning just a few short months ago, prior to Lyme-N. He had such intrusive thoughts that he could not hold one thought long enough to even get it out in a sentence. He was mentally very, very slow and sluggish. He could not listen to teachers and process what they were saying. He had almost no memories of the past few years since his Freshman year. I remember during one particularly horrible, depressing, bout of sadness and frustration that he was crying and told me he felt 'retarded' and so stupid and that he couldn't even remember the things he and his friends had talked about the day before at lunch. It makes it impossible to form lasting relationships when you can't even remember you closest friends' names.
A few nights ago he shocked me by actually feeding the dogs without me asking him to. Normally this would NEVER even cross his mind. He is not currently taking anything to treat his Lyme Disease. He is on a chewable multi vitamin and Vit. C. When I can get him to take it, CO Q10, zinc picolinate as needed and probiotics. That's it :) We are starting to see some really amazing momentum with Lyme-N! I am thanking God for this amazing blessing!
