Life has been really busy and I have meant to post many times over the past couple months, but I have so much to say that I just get overwhelmed and can't get to it. So, I'll do a series of short, separate posts, according to subject :)
First off, Colby got his first report card of the year and it's the best he's EVER had. All A's and B's!! In fact, only two B's! The rest were A's. He has maintained these grades throughout the year so far, so I figured his report card would be good, but this is incredible!
Also~ He had not missed a SINGLE DAY of school due to illness... until 2 days ago (Wed.) when he broke his arm riding his dirtbike. UG! He had perfect attendance until then. He fractured his humerus in the evening and I didn't know how he would feel, so he stayed home Thursday. He was alarmingly happy and feeling pretty good, so he went to school today with just his sling on and it went fine. We have an appt. Mon. with an orthopedic Dr., although there is nothing they will do. They don't cast the shoulder, so I'm sure it's just so he can monitor his healing.
I wish Hunter had had one more year of High School so I could really see the differences in his brain function/grades in a more measurable way. He was already noticing some great improvements at the end of last year, and he struggled the most with memory, reading, etc.
So, Thank you Lyme N for giving Colby his brain function and health back!
UPDATE: When we went to the ER, the nurse that showed us the X-rays, (photos below) and pointed out the "fracture" in his humerus was an idiot! That cracked looking line is NOT a fracture! We saw the orthopedist today and that is just the edge of his growth plate! However, the ortho said that of the three different orthos that looked at his x-rays, they could not agree on weather there was a break, crack, fracture, piece broken off in the area above the humerus where 3 little bones meet in the joint, including his clavical. He has a lot of pain and restriction of movement, so they are ordering a CT scan for a better look.....
